Subject: 1 year and some change since last update.
1 year and some change since last update. So, lots of shit has happened in the last year or so since I last updated. Yea, I don't update much, get over it. I'm looking to change that though, yea, that'd be great... Along with wanting to pump out one wallpaper a month. Sadly it's nearing March and I only have two ideas for wallpapers and one unfinished PSD sitting on my desktop.
Anyway, the most significant and most welcomed change is that the company that laid me off last year hired me back. I honestly can't say enough good things about the company and job itself. It truly is my dream job. Ironically enough the company is a Web Design / custom programming firm. On top of that, I can listen to music while I work. Some of you people who can already do that might not think that's a big deal but to me it is. Speaking of music, the company's employees have quite a few concert going people there. Some had to be convince, drug or guilt tripped into going but once they were there they loved it. I just dropped $687.30 on 12 tickets to a Papa Roach, AFI, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Killers, Jet and Saosin concert. One week after dropping $260 on 4 Tool tickets.
So, concerts, web design, web design research, hard core CSS, cutting up custom templates, PNG research and implementation, new software implementation all the tune of my own music = truly awesome.
Not too many things have changed here on the site. I've taken a few things off due to my host upgrading their PHP version and not owning up to it(the FFA page). They also claim my form mail script is sending out spam, which I still doubt as it's headers are perfectly set. Oh and you may notice the very, very large number of comments, well, those are real comments... I wish they were, but oh no, they are f'ing spam bots... So, I disabled the comment feature and there it sits. I will either find a new comment script or remove it all together. Most likely the latter. Which saddens me as I set out to make KoRnDragon.com v6 to be the most interactive version yet. Tag board, comments in news, Free For All script, bring back the forum if things go well and make this a web design community site if things go as planned. Well, they didn't. Spam bots came in, made comments on my tag board about prescription drugs, erectile dysfunction pills and other shit no one wants on their site. Oh the things I would do to the person(s) who sent bots to my site. Times were so much more simple a few years back. Back before email harvesters and spam posting bots. Here, here and here is a shout-out to those damn email harvest bots. So... I'm going to add some links randomly around the site, (possibly hidden) to ward off spam bots, maybe that'll help.
You wouldn't believe how large my simple 10 line mail script has become to handle the overflow of spam bots methods. And on top of that my damn host says it's wide open to spam bots to use for spamming. I still say bullshit on that. My mail script is locked down as far as security goes. But whatever, the mail form is online again along with the Link Me form which means I guess I'm open again to more affiliate requests. Glad to have that option now as the time me and a friend spent on programming an entire web app for referral and affiliate tracking would be a waste of time otherwise.
So, no more site updates as of right now. As I said, I'm going to be trying to update the site more. Wallpapers too hopefully, some downloads would be great if I could remember. I've got tons of programs I've been meaning to release but all need icons made for them and I can't find the time or motivation to do so. Wallpapers might be a little more practical right now, so I'll shoot for that. Send me an email if you read this and let me know your opinions!

Subject: KoRnDragon.com v6 [Vamp]
After three long years version 6 has finally been born. It took alot longer than I had originally expected it to. The ideas kept flowing to me once I got started so what I thought would take not long to pump out ended up taking more than 4 times as long because of all the extra ideas so many nights I stayed up countless hours working on this layout. All the little features (that most of you will never find all of) took a good bit of time. And alot of the unseen stuff took a good chunk too. Namely the form mails. There is still quite a few things I want to do before calling it finished but that's going to have to wait until I take a short break from spending ALL my free time working on the layout.
My next priority will be getting the affiliates section in order. Contacting my old affiliates after last checking them all two years ago... There's over 100 sites I have to check. And find replacements for the ones that are down. Mainly because if the affiliates tab section holds any less than what it has now it looks like crap. The left tabs on it (more, trade) are stretching it out.
I'm also going to beef up the downloads section quite a bit. Programs, wallpapers, Photoshop brushes, fonts etc. Or at least that's the plan... There's some sections that are still crossed out, down, not fixed with the new layout or just plain not there yet. To you I say PATIENCE! it'll all get done in due time. There's still a massive list of shit I want to finish before working on more content pages. But some of them will get put up as soon as I can based on popularity.
Oh and the comment script works but... it doesn't show the correct number of comments. I was tired of screwing with it so I skipped over it for now. But for now, it works, just doesn't show the right count.
So yea, I know I was repeating myself a bit but I haven't slept in 23 hours. Most of those 23 hours were put toward this layout. Anyway, today is my birthday and I have family coming over in a few hours so I need to finally get some sleep... More news/updates will be posted as they happen.
As a closing note I want to tell everyone that I'm going to try to make this into more of a community site. Having forms on most of the pages so users/you can submit sites and other shit to build the lists. maybe I'll even make another forum... doubt it but it could happen! |
